Traditionally, many people thought buying a home came after other major life milestones—particularly marriage. And while this was a commonly held belief for most people, it was especially true for women.
But (thankfully!) things change. Today it’s not uncommon for women to wait until later in life to get married (or to forgo marriage altogether), but they’re not letting that stop them from purchasing real estate. According to a recent article in Realtor Magazine, the share of single female home buyers jumped from 15 to 18 percent over the last three years—and today, when it comes to home purchases, single women are outpacing men.

If you turn on HGTV or open a Good Housekeeping magazine, you are bound to hear or read about “modern farmhouses.” Is this style of home and interior design just a fad, or is it here to stay?
Originally, farmhouses were characterized as functional and sturdy, typically situated on agricultural land. Farmhouses are beautiful in their straightforward design with little ornamentation and a focus on natural materials, solid construction, and classic colors. Other common elements of this classic style are wraparound porches, larger kitchens, a semi-open floor plan, and a centralized Great Room for family gatherings.
